C George Bird

DRIVER CYRIL GEORGE BIRD

Cyril George Bird (always called George), was born 3rd July 1911, son of Alfred and Elizabeth Bird.

He died, aged 33 years, in Borneo on 26th December 1944 whilst a prisoner of the Japanese, and is commemorated in Labuan War Cemetery, Malaysia: Grave Plot U. C.9.

He is also commemorated in Rushden Cemetery: Grave F1636 with his brother Alfred.

He was married to Doris and they had a daughter Patricia (later married to Michael Bailey).

Prior to joining the Army in 1940 he was employed at Messrs. John White's heel factory.
